Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB)
Since the first INTO Seminar in 2004, the event has established itself as a platform for discussing research proposals and presenting good business practices. Over 15 editions, a range of issues related to tourism have been analysed with regard to cultural, water sport and health-based tourism products, marketing tools such as branding and social media, and how business models are evolving within the tourism industry. Discussions have also centred around new commitments to sustainability in the sector, addressing issues such as the circular economy, climate change and seasonality. Other topics discussed relate to how different technologies used in the tourism industry are evolving to analyse tourists’ behaviour and to create and/or transform tourist destinations in a sustainable way.
This year’s edition will take place totally online. From the last week of October through to the first week of December, entrepreneurs, researchers, teachers, students and representatives of public authorities, among others, will come together to analyse what tourist destinations have to offer and what consumers are demanding in this new paradigm, while also analysing ICT solutions and how businesses are restructuring within the tourism sector.
The main objective of the INTO Seminar is to foster knowledge transfer and drive innovation throughout the tourism industry’s value chain in order to improve the Balearic Islands’ competitive edge.
Running in parallel to the Seminar, and organized with the support of the Enterprise Europe Network, a virtual international matchmaking event will be held on November 10th, November 17th and November 24th, with the aim of establishing professional relationships and building new business opportunities.
